Amanda is a 20 year old singer/songwriter from the Seattle area. Starting her writing career at 16 she produced her first album at seventeen.
Recently her fan base has just exploded, both locally and abroad. Since then she has caught the eye of local booking agents and is sharing the stage with some great bands.
She has played Vans Warped Tour in Seattle, Wa; opened for Aaron Carter; headlined at El Corazón, Seattle; sold out a concert at the Empty Sea Studios in Ballard and shared the stage with Bobby Jo Valentine, Chasing Vegas, Hatters For Hire and The Union Street Orchestra, among others.
Her second album ‘BREATHE’ was released late 2012. Scott Krippayne produced the album and co-wrote a song with her. Scott has had a wonderful career, with over 10 #1 hits and has written songs recorded by Demi Lovato, Joe Jonas, Kutless, Point of Grace, Avalon and Jaci Velasquez as well as others. Amanda feels very blessed to have worked alongside Scott.
Her music is currently being played on the UK station Reading4U and the California Christian station Rackman Radio. A mix of inspirational folk/pop with a dash of country her lyrics are honest and mellow, reflecting the ups and downs of being a young adult.
Her songs come from an honest place, heavy with life lessons and disappointments. The lyrics of the song Breathe, came from a period of intense crisis in her life that she has since worked through. The playful keys and Markley’s heavenly, joyful vocals on “Yesterday’s Rain” prove how freeing it is to move on from a bad relationship, and her impassioned lament on the Sixpence None the Richer-esque mid-tempo number “Home” challenges the listener to appreciate what they have in their lives. Markley always looks for the silver lining when writing lyrics. Encouraging others brings her joy, which is why music is so important to her. By sharing pieces of herself through her songs, she hopes to help anyone who has had a dream taken away, or who is in need of inspiration, by helping them realize they are not alone.
“It’s a big part of my life because even if it’s other people’s music, I’ve always tried to find songs that are inspiring,” Markley says. “Your mood can change entirely just by listening to one song.”
Markley’s music invites you to experience a host of different moods throughout her latest CD. Her strong, clear vocals resonate on tracks like “Breathe,” and on “More than Friends” you can hear Markley smiling at times. These and other traits help make Breathe a breathtaking experience in the best way possible, and demonstrate that Amanda Markley is a striking new talent you will not soon forget.
