Crow Mother is Latvian rock band from Riga. Formed in March 2012 by expierenced musicians from different bands who were joined by calling to make something unique for local music stage - guitarist Janis Andzans, vocalist Eddie Jurevics, bass player Edgars Briedis (aka DeeR) and drummer Martins Vilskersts (aka Racoon). Band’s music style can be characterized as classic rock mixed with indie and elements from other genres such as rock’n’roll and psychedelic rock.
Name of band comes from indian culture, Crow Mother, known as well as Angwusnasomtaka, is a Indian god and a figure of great dignity - this is a symbol that inspires the band’s songs and lyrics.
After two weeks of playing together Crow Mother first live performance was at the Black Friday club in Riga - it was the main start point of band. Crows spent they’r first rock’n’roll summer driving trough all Baltics with fridge alike car called Crowmobile. During their freeride tour band performed at several rock festivals in Latvia and also visited Lithuania to play at different clubs. Between numerous shows, band recorded their first two singles called Killing the Love and Sugar, Blood & Wine. These first two records were more like experiment for band to find its own sound that has become more distinct in their last recordings – Winterland and Smile Like You Care.
Now band is working on first studio album that will be released in summer of 2013.
